PAFA Revives Perak Football Glory Through Amateur League

The legacy of Perak football is set to be revived through a proactive move by the Perak Football Association (PAFA) by joining the Amateur Football League (AFL). This participation is part of a comprehensive plan to rebuild the state's football following the withdrawal of Perak FC from the Malaysia League competition.

In an official statement, PAFA emphasized that this move is not just a routine participation, but the beginning of a planned mission to restore the dignity of Perak football. "The resurgence of PAFA is the result of careful planning after going through difficult times. Now, we are facing it with a new spirit to restore the glory of the state's football," the statement explained.

In addition to joining the AFL, PAFA is also focusing on long-term preparations for SUKMA 2026, the 2026 President's Cup, and the 2026 Youth Cup. These preparations are being carried out in stages, starting with the amateur league before moving on to more competitive tournaments.

To ensure smooth implementation, PAFA has held several important meetings with key national football leaders. Among those present were FAM President, Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub; MFL President, Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan; and AFL Chairman, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi. The meeting, which was also attended by FAM Competition Unit Head, Jack Subramaniam, discussed various aspects including qualification requirements, national license registration, and league participation.

PAFA also does not deny the major challenges faced, especially the RM5 million debt burden left by the previous management. However, the association has chosen not to sit idle and continues to move forward with a more organized strategy. "We do not want to point fingers, but instead focus on solutions and long-term development planning," PAFA asserted.

Strong support from the state government is also a major driver in the effort to rebuild Perak football. PAFA expressed its appreciation to the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, for his commitment and continuous support in driving the progress of the sport in the state.

With the steps taken, PAFA hopes to restore the glory of Perak football while producing young talents capable of performing at higher levels in the future.
