Mother and Daughter Found Burnt to Death While Embracing in Bagan Datuk
A fire occurred at approximately 3:30 AM on August 30, 2017, involving a two-story house in Bagan Datuk. The exact location of the house was at Batu 6 1/2, Jalan Maharajalela in Hutan Melintang.
The tragic incident that occurred early that morning claimed two lives: a mother and her daughter. The woman, 48-year-old S. Kalaivani, and her 13-year-old daughter, G. Vikneswary, were found burnt to death, and heartbreakingly, they were discovered in each other's arms.
It is believed that both victims died from smoke inhalation during the fire, which destroyed 80 percent of the house. S. Kalaivani's husband, 51-year-old R. Ganasegaran, was seriously injured after jumping from the upper floor of the house when he failed to save his wife and daughter.
The victim's husband, R. Ganasegaran, who was sleeping downstairs, realized the fire had started in the kitchen and managed to get several family members out, including his 83-year-old father, P. Ramasamy. He then attempted to go upstairs to save his wife and daughter but failed, eventually jumping to safety. He is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Teluk Intan Hospital for second-degree burns over his entire body. The Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at 3:53 AM and rushed to the scene. However, upon arrival, the fire was already raging through the wooden house.
Members of the public informed us that two victims were trapped inside the house. Our personnel attempted to enter, but the fire was too intense, forcing us to control the blaze first before we were able to find both victims in an embrace.
