Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign in Conjunction with the 2017 Independence Month

15 Aug 2017 · 1 min read · 151 ·By Iskandar Zulqarnain

We generally know that the period from August to September 16th each year is celebrated as the national month. As a sign of gratitude for the blessing of independence and pride as citizens of Malaysia, the Jalur Gemilang is flown as an expression of love for the country. Independence is a blessing that should be cherished.

However, the spirit of patriotism among the youth is fading, and the willingness to sacrifice for the country is no longer present in the souls of the current generation.

It is during this month of independence that we should reflect on the toil and sacrifices of our past fighters in achieving independence, and how that spirit was later channeled by leaders to build a harmonious, advanced, and progressive nation-state. In conjunction with the upcoming Independence Day on August 31st and Malaysia Day on September 16th, orangperak.com and the Perak Community History Lovers Association (PPSMP) would like to invite all readers to join in expressing this love for the homeland by flying the Jalur Gemilang and the Perak state flag at your homes, vehicles, offices, and shophouses throughout this independence month.

The activity of flying the Jalur Gemilang and the state flag should be given attention by all levels of society so that the spirit and love for the homeland permeate the souls of these free citizens. What is the meaning of an independence celebration without the flying of the Jalur Gemilang? Flying the national flag is a sign of our pride in this beloved country. Let's fly the Jalur Gemilang and the Perak State Flag!
