The Badang Challenge competition originally began in 2014. It is actually aimed at improving the socio-economy of the local residents and promoting the name of Homestay Labu Kubong and the Kuala Kangsar district as a famous international sporting event held annually.
As of 2017, the Badang Challenge competition is now better known not only throughout Malaysian society, but there is also demand from participants from abroad, especially ASEAN countries, which consist of 10 nations including Malaysia itself.
For the upcoming 2017 Badang Challenge, there will be 2 categories for men and an open category for women, with an expected participation of 120 people. The event is expected to be attended by over 10,000 visitors who will enliven the ceremony and the competition.
Two types of titles will be contested by participants based on gender; male winners will be crowned as "Badang," while female winners will receive the title of "Walinongsari." The winners will also receive prizes provided by the organizers. Badang Challenge 2017 competition information:
